How company email addresses are found
Contact data lives on a handful of predictable pages, so the crawl is shallow and targeted rather than exhaustive. Candidates come from the site's own links and sitemap first, then a small set of well-known paths — /team, /about, /contact, /impressum. That last one is the highest-yield page on any German site, because the law requires a named contact on it.
Addresses are read from four sources: mailto: links, Cloudflare-protected attributes, textual obfuscation like name [at] company [dot] com, and plain text. The first two are read off the parsed DOM rather than by regex, because an attribute regex breaks on the first legitimate apostrophe in a local part and silently returns a truncated, wrong address.
What a confidence score actually answers
One question: how likely is it that mail sent here reaches the person we say it reaches. That is two independent claims — the mailbox has to exist, and it has to belong to that person — and both have to hold.
Some conditions are ceilings rather than penalties. An unverified address cannot exceed 74. A generated address on a catch-all domain cannot exceed 55. A domain with no MX records cannot exceed 20. They have to be ceilings: a percentage deducted from a high raw score still clamps to a confident-looking number, so the penalty does nothing on exactly the records where it matters most.

Is it legal to collect business email addresses?
Business contact data published by a company on its own website is generally processable in most jurisdictions, subject to conditions that vary. We respect robots.txt, identify our crawler, and provide immediate erasure that also prevents re-collection. Take your own legal advice for your jurisdiction.
How current is the data?
Every address shows when it was last confirmed on its source page and whether it is still there. That is the honest answer to this question, and it is better than a blanket freshness claim about a whole database.
What is the difference between a personal and a generic address?
A personal address belongs to a named individual. A generic one — info@, sales@, support@ — reaches a shared inbox. Both are real mail; only one reaches a person, and they are labelled separately so you can filter.
