Terms of service

Template — requires legal review before launch

This document has not been reviewed by a lawyer. The commercial terms below describe how the product genuinely behaves; the general clauses are boilerplate and are not yet binding-quality drafting.

1. The agreement

These terms govern your use of VerifyInbox (“the service”). By creating an account you accept them. If you are accepting on behalf of a company, you confirm you are authorised to bind it.

2. What the service does

VerifyInbox finds business email addresses published on the public web, verifies whether a mailbox accepts mail, and records the page each address was read from.

Verification is a measurement, not a guarantee. A mail server can accept every address it is offered, change its answer between one day and the next, or refuse to answer at all — and we report that third case as unknown rather than converting it into a verdict we did not earn. We do not warrant that an address will accept mail in future, and we do not warrant deliverability of anything you send.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping credentials secret. API keys are shown once and stored only as a hash; if one is exposed, revoke it. Tell us promptly if you believe an account has been compromised.

4. Credits, plans and payment

  • Usage is metered in credits. A verification costs half a credit; a search or a find costs one. Prices are shown on the pricing page and in the app before you spend.
  • A plan grants credits on every renewal. Granted credits expire at the end of the period they were granted for and do not roll over.
  • Separately purchased credit packs expire 365 days after purchase.
  • Credits are reserved before an operation and settled after it. An operation that produces no result — capacity exhausted, a server that never answered — releases its reservation and is not charged.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Payments are processed by Paddle, who act as merchant of record; their terms cover the payment itself, and your invoices come from them.

5. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time from the billing page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period — the plan and its remaining credits stay usable until then, and no further payment is taken. We do not pro-rate a partial period.

Credits already spent are not refundable. If the service charged you for work it did not perform, contact us and we will correct it.

6. Acceptable use

You may not use the service to:

  • Send unsolicited bulk email, or build lists for anyone who will. Verifying an address is not consent to email its owner, and the law where your recipient lives may require a basis you do not have.
  • Collect data about individuals in a personal capacity. This is a business contact product; consumer mailbox providers are excluded from the index by configuration.
  • Attempt to circumvent metering, rate limits, or the isolation between organizations.
  • Resell raw access to the API or the underlying data as a substitute for the service itself.

We may suspend an account that is doing any of the above. Where we can do so safely, we will tell you first.

7. Your data

What we collect and why is set out in the privacy notice. Where we process personal data on your behalf, the data processing addendum applies and the subprocessor list names everyone involved.

Anyone whose address appears in our index can have it removed through the data request form, and a suppressed address stays suppressed — including for you.

8. Availability

We aim for continuous availability and do not promise it. There is no contractual uptime commitment on the self-serve plans. Enterprise agreements may include one; if yours does, that document takes precedence over this clause.

9. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost revenue or damage to sender reputation.

10. Changes

We may change these terms. Material changes will be announced by email to account owners before they take effect, and continued use after that date is acceptance. Price changes never apply to a period you have already paid for.

11. Ending the agreement

You may close your account at any time. We may end the agreement for a material breach that is not fixed within a reasonable period after we tell you about it. On termination, access stops and unused credits are forfeited.
